Welcome to Valtio Inc. (“Valtio,” “we,” “our,” or “us,” as the context provides). Valtio’s mission is security and privacy for all. Here at Valtio, we believe your data should always be in your control. Valtio is absolutely committed to protecting your privacy and will never sell your data (or metadata) to a 3rd-party company.

This Privacy Policy explains our policies and practices regarding information about users of our products and services (“you,” “your,” or “users,” as the context provides). This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use, retain, and disclose your Personal Information and Non-Personal Information (described below) and the rights available to you with regard to your information. This Privacy Policy applies to information that you voluntarily submit to Valtio and to information that we collect when you interact with our website or mobile application (together, our “Platform”) and use our services (collectively, our “Services”). 

We have a valid SSL certificate for our website so that any information you send us from our website is encrypted in transmission. We have ensured that the third party code that we use to create and host our website does include links back to third party providers. 

 

1.    The Information We Collect About You. 
In order to provide our Services to you, we collect two types of information about our users: Personal Information and Non-Personal Information (as described below). Our primary goal in collecting information about you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience while using our Services.

Non-Personal Information.  
When you use or visit our Platform, we may collect information about you that cannot directly identify you (“Non-Personal Information”) which may include your approximate location, information about the specific device you are using such as the hardware model, operating system version, web-browser software (e.g.,  Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.) and your Internet Protocol (IP) address/MAC address/device identifier.

Personal Information. 
We do not collect any information that may be used to identify you personally (“Personal Information”) unless you voluntarily provide it to us.  You provide certain Personal Information to us when you:

Sign up for a Valtio account; 
Submit credit card information to purchase our Services; 
Upload documents and other data to our Platform; and/or
Share your data with another person or organization on our platform.
 
We may also collect Personal Information from you at other points on our Platform that state that such information is being collected.
 
2.     How We Use Information We Collect About You.  
We will primarily use your Personal Information to reply to an inquiry from you, to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems upon your request, or to enforce our Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy. 
 
We may use your IP address to diagnose problems with our servers, software, to administer our Services and to gather demographic information. We will also use Non-Personal Information to enhance the operation of our Platform, improve our marketing and promotional efforts, statistically analyze the uses of our Services, improve our product and service offerings, and customize the content, layout, details, and features of our Services.  
 
3.         Third Parties Your Information is Shared With. 
We only disclose your information to specific third party businesses that you designate (each, a “Recipient”) when you voluntarily initiate a request to share your information with the Recipient through our Platform (a “Share Request”). 
 
We may need to share your Personal Information with the Recipient upon your request for certain services. For example, if you’ve requested contact from the Recipient. Any information the Recipient collects independently or that you voluntarily share with the Recipient is governed by the terms of service and privacy policies of the Recipient and is not subject to our control.
 
Occasionally we may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide Personal Information to the appropriate governmental authorities. We will disclose Personal Information only upon receipt of a valid and legitimate court order, subpoena, or to lawfully cooperate with a law enforcement investigation. We fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities.  We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful.
 
We do not sell your Personal Information or Non-Personal Information. Transfers of your Personal Information to Recipients upon your Share Request are not considered “sales” under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). 
 
4.    Update, Correct, Delete, or Transfer Your Personal Information. 
We believe that you should have control over the information you provide to us, including the ability to access, edit, or request that we delete or transfer any of your Personal Information. You may request such change to your Personal Information at any time by sending us an email with such request to the email address provided at the bottom of this Privacy Policy. 
 
We may need to retain some information about you, such as the agreement between us, payment history, invoice or subscription information, performance metrics, emails, and case studies of your use of our Service. 
 
5.         We Use “Cookies.” 
When you access our website we will store cookies on your computer in order to facilitate and customize your use of our website.  A cookie is a small data text file, which a website stores on your computer's hard drive (if your web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to us.  Our cookies store randomly assigned user identification numbers, the country where you are located, and your name.  The cookies make your use of our website easier, make our website run more smoothly and help us to maintain a secure website.

6.         We Do Not Offer Our Services to Children. 
Valtio’s Services are not targeted at children and we generally do not think any child would be interested in our Services. If you are the parent of a child who has accessed our website or used our Services, please contact us so that we can delete any information that may have been collected about your child.

We are a growing startup company that enables the secure storage and protection of your documents and other information, including your Personal Information, and we want to set the standard in complying with all applicable privacy and data laws, regulations, and best practices to the fullest extent. For this reason, we will need to update this Privacy Policy as we grow to outline the measures we take to protect your Personal Information. We will post changes to this website with a corresponding date of the change.
